Don¦t hate the player, hate the game.
IMO most of you are in error when they say that the market situation is a fault of the players. There are still many many things to be improved on the market-system and believe me, Tech 2 just won¦t cut it. Tech 2 items and higher maybe more rare, creating more competition and thus helping the market a bit but it won¦t solve the actual problem. IMHO the problem is that nobody is able to improve or change the things they produce in any way. Let take a little RL example, first I¦m going to view it as if EvE was RL to point out what¦s wrong:
Company A produces soap. It¦s the ordinary soap you find in every bathroom. Might make your hands go a bit dry when you use it too often but hey, it¦s soap . Company B produces soap, too. Of course they want to compete with company A so they take a look at their opprotunities. Problem is: They can¦t change their soap in any way. They might be able to produce their soap a bit faster and more cheap, but after all they still produce.. you name it... soap.
This is the way EvE works. Replace the word "soap" with "Thorax" and you¦ll see what I mean. Now let¦s take a look at how it is in RL:
Company B¦s responsibles have done a good job. They realised that with ordinary soap they can¦t compete with company A. Since company A already does produce soap really cheap there¦s no way to undercut their prices in any way. So the B-men went into the laboratory and figured out how to improve their soap. A few months later they finally came up with their new product: "Orange soap". Not only does that cool stuff clean your hands, it even smells like orange!! Weeeeee . Now company B has a complete different standing towards A. They produce a product which is not only nearly as cheap as A¦s soap, it smells like orange, it¦s different and therefor just that bit better. But after all, there are still many people who don¦t like the smell of orange on their hands or maybe they just find orange soap too expensive. This means that after all, company A still makes a profit, maybe not as much as B. but that¦s how things work.
What I¦m trying to say is: Without the possibility to change and/or improve our BPs there¦s no base for a real competition. Everyone sells the exact same product and the only way to make a difference in this business is via prices.
Think about it.
